As of October 2, 2025, the price of cocoa dey go up for the world market, but instead of e dey help we, e dey make am hard for we to buy chocolate.
Why Chocolate Dey Be So Expensive For We Inside Ghana?
Plenty things dey cause this problem. For starters, cocoa no dey plenty for the world market. Countries like Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire dey struggle because of bad weather (wey climate change dey cause), disease wey dey kill cocoa trees (CSSVD), old cocoa farms, and galamsey (illegal mining) wey dey spoil the land.
How High Prices Dey Affect We?
Even though the high prices dey bring more money for Ghana when we export cocoa, e no mean say chocolate go cheap for we inside the country. COCOBOD, the government body wey dey control cocoa, dey fix the price wey farmers go sell their cocoa for. This one dey help them make dem no lose money if the price fall for the world market. But e no dey make chocolate cheap for we to buy.
