Ivory Coast dey inside election mood as dem dey choose new leader. President Alassane Ouattara, wey be 83 years old, dey try win fourth term, but some big people wey for challenge am no dey contest.

Voting Start

Voting start for Saturday morning after small delay. About 8.7 million people register to vote, but for the past two elections, only small pass half of dem vote.

Dis election show how old men still dey hold power for Africa, even though Africa get the youngest people for the world. Cameroon President Paul Biya, Uganda President Yoweri Museveni, and Equatorial Guinea President Teodoro Mbasogo be some of the other old leaders wey still dey rule.

Candidates We Dey See

Five candidates dey fight for the top job, but many people believe say Ouattara go win again. If e win, e go rule for almost two decades. E party, RHDP, get plenty seats for parliament too.

Ouattara don help the country make money since the civil war, with growth rate wey dey reach 6% every year because of cocoa. But still, plenty people dey poor, and young people no get job.

Problem Before Election

Before the election, people dey protest because dem no allow some important candidates wey for challenge Ouattara to contest. Dem no allow Tidjane Thiam, wey used to work for Credit Suisse, and Laurent Gbagbo, wey still get plenty supporters, to contest.

Other Candidates

Apart from Ouattara, other candidates like Simone Gbagbo, Jean-Louis Billon, Henriette Lagou Adjoua, and Ahoua Don Melo are also vying for power. The election result dey expected soon.
