Franti stated that the affair was “the most regrettable mistake” of his life. “I broke my wedding vows, I broke my wife’s trust, I broke her heart and for that I am deeply sorry for the pain my actions have caused her,” he wrote, adding that the relationship ended after his wife discovered it, in an effort to save their marriage.

The admission comes in the wake of singer-songwriter Victoria Canal's allegations of a year-long abusive relationship with an older, powerful man in the music industry. While Canal didn't explicitly name Franti, she mentioned being discovered on Instagram in 2018, at age 19, by a musician who then invited her on tour.
