Red Wings to Honor Sergei Fedorov: #91 Jersey Retirement Announced!
Detroit Red Wings fans, mark your calendars! The team has officially announced that they will retire Sergei Fedorov's No. 91 jersey on January 12, 2026, at Little Caesars Arena. The ceremony will take place before the game against the Carolina Hurricanes as part of the franchise's centennial celebration. This is a long-awaited and well-deserved honor for one of the Red Wings' all-time greats.
Fedorov's Legendary Career
Sergei Fedorov, a key member of the Red Wings' Stanley Cup-winning teams in 1997, 1998, and 2002, was known for his exceptional two-way play. He spent 13 seasons with the Red Wings, earning two Frank J. Selke Trophies, the Hart Memorial Trophy, and the Ted Lindsay Award in 1993-94. Fedorov was also named one of the 100 Greatest NHL Players in 2017 and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2015 and the IIHF Hall of Fame in 2016.
