Sacramento and Central California are sweltering under a Labor Day heatwave, with heat advisories issued across the region. The National Weather Service has warned residents to take precautions against the extreme heat, which is expected to last through Tuesday.

Heat Advisories in Effect

A Heat Advisory is in effect for the Mother Lode and the northern San Joaquin Valley from noon today until 11 PM tonight. Another advisory covers the Mariposa County foothills and the central San Joaquin Valley, lasting from noon today until midnight tonight.

Extreme Temperatures Expected

High temperatures are forecast to reach a scorching 99 to 106 degrees Fahrenheit. Overnight lows will offer little relief, remaining in the sixties to low seventies.

HeatRisk Levels

The widespread heat will result in Moderate to Major HeatRisk levels. This significantly increases the risk of heat-related illnesses, especially for those working or participating in outdoor activities.

Safety Precautions

The National Weather Service urges residents to take the following precautions:

Stay in an air-conditioned room.
Stay out of the sun.
Check on relatives, neighbors, and those more susceptible to heat impacts.

Hanford Heat Advisory Extended

In Hanford, California, the heat advisory continues until 12 a.m. Tuesday. Temperatures are expected to reach 104°F, with road surfaces baking well above air temperatures. A slight chance of rain arrives Tuesday morning, but highs will remain near 101°F. Residents should continue to take precautions until cooler weather arrives later in the week.
