Bobby Flay's Jaw-Dropping Apartment Reno: You Won't Believe the Kitchen!
Celebrity chef Bobby Flay recently unveiled the stunning results of a six-month renovation of his Tribeca apartment, and the transformation is truly remarkable. While many might expect a chef's kitchen to be the focal point of such a project, Flay surprised everyone by leaving his kitchen virtually untouched. It seems he got it perfect the first time around!
Why Renovate a Perfect Kitchen?
Flay, a New York City native, fell in love with his 3,800-square-foot loft's historic charm and soaring 14-foot ceilings almost a decade ago. However, time takes its toll, and the interiors began to feel dated. Faced with the decision to relocate or renovate, Flay opted to breathe new life into his beloved space.
The Tribeca Allure
Despite exploring other apartments throughout the city, Flay couldn't resist the unique "old New York" vibe of Tribeca. Nothing quite captured his heart like his original loft, prompting him to enlist the expertise of Olivia Capuano of Olivia Jane Design.
Statement Pieces and Broadway-Worthy Lighting
The renovation prioritized statement pieces, starting with a serpentine De Sede DS600 Non Stop Sectional. To complement this eye-catching sofa, Flay sought other elements to tie the room together. He discovered a magnificent chandelier with brass spokes and 40 milk glass globes, shipped all the way from the Netherlands. This show-stopping fixture, which required rewiring upon arrival, serves as the room's centerpiece. "That light fixture almost feels like a Broadway show piece, it’s totally the queen of the room," Capuano exclaimed.
A Kitchen Built to Last
Interestingly, Flay had the opportunity to customize key features, including the kitchen, before he even moved in. Capuano was part of the original design team, and years later, she playfully reached out to Flay to suggest further improvements. However, the kitchen remained untouched, a testament to its timeless design and Flay's initial vision.
