The world has been buzzing with anticipation for the next James Bond, and the wait is finally over! IO Interactive, the developers behind the acclaimed Hitman series, have officially unveiled their new Bond adventure, '007 First Light,' and revealed the actor who will be stepping into the iconic shoes: Patrick Gibson.

Who is Patrick Gibson?

While not a household name, Gibson, a 30-year-old Irish actor, is no stranger to the screen, having appeared in TV shows like 'Dexter: Original Sin,' 'Shadow and Bone,' and 'The OA.' He'll be portraying a 26-year-old James Bond, the youngest on-screen portrayal to date, in this brand-new origin story.

Martin Emborg, narrative director for 'First Light,' explained the decision to cast Gibson, emphasizing the focus on finding the right character fit rather than simply opting for a famous face. "It's not finding the character as much as saying, 'Oh, wouldn't it be cool if so-and-so were Bond?' I don't think that was super attractive at any point, actually," Emborg stated.

What to Expect from '007 First Light'

'007 First Light' promises a fresh take on the Bond mythos, exploring the early years of the legendary MI6 agent. The game emphasizes player agency, allowing them to approach missions with a "Creative Approach." Players can choose to be stealthy, utilizing spycraft skills like eavesdropping and picking pockets, or go in guns blazing, relying on weapons and gadgets. The game will feature immersive environments and cinematic flair, as evidenced by gameplay footage showcasing missions in Slovakia and London.

Daniel Craig's Head on Agent 47?

Intriguingly, IO Interactive secured the Bond rights by showcasing their vision with a demo that featured Daniel Craig's head modeled onto Agent 47's body within the Hitman world. This demonstrated their ability to create living, breathing spaces and capture the essence of the Bond fantasy, combining action with social interactions and espionage.
