Severe Weather Alert! Damaging Winds & Hail Possible This Weekend
Heads Up: Severe Weather Risk for Saturday Afternoon
Get ready for a potentially stormy Saturday afternoon! The Storm Prediction Center has issued a severe weather risk for our area. While you might be staying local, be prepared to dodge a few showers and storms tomorrow and Sunday.
If you're planning to watch a game tonight, the good news is that the weather shouldn't be an issue. However, Saturday afternoon presents a different story. There's an isolated chance of severe weather throughout the afternoon and early evening hours.
What to Expect:
- Damaging Wind Gusts: Some thunderstorms may be capable of producing strong wind gusts.
- Large Hail: There's also a possibility of large hail.
Our futurecast model shows a mainly dry morning on Saturday with increasing cloud cover. The rain is expected to move in after lunchtime, possibly between 2 PM and 4 PM. The showers and storms will be scattered, meaning some areas might remain dry while others experience downpours.
Of course, some of these storms will bring heavy rain and frequent lightning. Remember, there could be a stronger storm between 2 PM and 8 PM. The good news is that the majority of the rain will wind down by 10 PM, and the severe threat will diminish.
Sunday Outlook:
Sunday morning might bring some lingering light rain, but we should start to dry out and clear up throughout the afternoon. While Sunday will start mild and possibly still humid, a front will clear our area by the afternoon, bringing drier air and cooler temperatures. Today is the warmest day of the week so far.
