Trump on Hyundai Raid: Arrests OK, But We Need Foreign Experts!
Trump Weighs In on Georgia Immigration Raid at Hyundai Plant
Former President Donald Trump has commented on the recent ICE raid at a Hyundai battery plant construction site in Georgia, where 475 people, primarily South Koreans, were arrested for allegedly working illegally. While supporting the actions of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Trump also suggested a potential need for temporary foreign experts to train American workers in specialized industries.
Homeland Security Investigations carried out the operation at the under-construction battery plant. Hyundai has stated that it owns the site but maintains that the arrested workers were not directly employed by the company.
Addressing reporters, Trump acknowledged the necessity of the ICE operation but highlighted a potential skills gap in the U.S. workforce. He suggested that bringing in foreign experts to train Americans in areas like battery technology, shipbuilding, and computer manufacturing could be beneficial.
"If you don’t have people in this country right now that know about batteries, maybe we should help them along…," Trump stated, emphasizing the need to train Americans in industries where expertise is lacking. He added, "We have a lot of industries that we don’t have any more, and we’re going to have to train people."
Trump elaborated on his vision, suggesting that allowing foreign experts to temporarily reside in the U.S. could facilitate effective training programs. He reiterated his support for enforcing immigration laws while acknowledging the potential benefits of importing specialized knowledge.
"We do have to work something out where we bring in experts so that our people can be trained so that they can do it themselves," he concluded.
Trump also addressed foreign companies investing in the U.S. on Truth Social, urging them to respect immigration laws.
