Southern California Shaken by Magnitude 3.5 Earthquake

A magnitude 3.5 earthquake rattled Southern California on Saturday afternoon, sending tremors through the region and prompting residents to report feeling the shaking. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reported the quake struck at approximately 5:11 p.m. local time.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located about six miles north of La Verne, a city in Los Angeles County, and roughly five miles southwest of the Mt. Baldy region in the Angeles National Forest. The quake's relatively shallow depth of nearly four and a half miles contributed to its widespread impact.

Reports flooded in from across Southern California, with residents from the coast to San Bernardino, and from Victorville to Orange County, reporting that they felt the earthquake. People in cities surrounding La Verne, including Claremont and Pomona, also confirmed feeling the tremors.

Fortunately, as of initial reports, there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage caused by the earthquake. Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation.

This event follows a smaller magnitude 2.8 earthquake that occurred on Friday afternoon, approximately four miles north of Fontana. Southern California is known for its seismic activity, and residents are encouraged to be prepared for potential future earthquakes.
