Nia Jax: From Football Dreams to WWE Domination! Plus, Wrestlepalooza Update!
Nia Jax, a force to be reckoned with in the WWE, wasn't always destined for the squared circle. Before delivering devastating slams and captivating audiences, the 'Irresistible Force' had her sights set on a different, equally physical sport: football.
Nia Jax's Athletic Roots: Beyond the Ring
While known for her WWE Women's Championship wins, Jax boasts a diverse athletic background. A former collegiate basketball player at Palomar College, where she secured a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Championship, she also explored volleyball, soccer, and softball. This competitive spirit was ignited early, driven by a desire to prove herself alongside her brothers in any sport, including football.
Jax revealed in an interview on ESPN1530 that she harbored aspirations of playing linebacker. "I wanted to hit [the other players]. That was the fun part for me," she stated, adding that her physicality on the soccer field often resulted in yellow and red cards. This aggressive style clearly foreshadowed her future career in professional wrestling.
Her mother, however, wasn't keen on the idea of her playing football due to the physical nature of the sport. This led Jax to explore other avenues, ultimately leading her to basketball and, eventually, WWE.
Wrestlepalooza Match Update: Stratton's Injury Impacts Card
In other news, a planned triple threat match for the WWE Women's Championship at Wrestlepalooza, featuring Tiffany Stratton, Nia Jax, and Jade Cargill, may be postponed. Reports indicate that Stratton sustained a possible injury during a recent SmackDown match against Cargill, where she appeared to hit her head hard during a moonsault attempt.
The match was advertised on a Wrestlepalooza t-shirt, leading to speculation about its certainty. WrestleVotes reported that the match is still planned but depends on Stratton's medical clearance. Stratton's absence from a recent NXT Homecoming event further fueled concerns about her condition.
The current Wrestlepalooza card includes several high-profile matches, including the return of AJ Lee, who will team with CM Punk against Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch, and a clash between John Cena and Brock Lesnar.
Stay tuned for updates on Stratton's status and the final Wrestlepalooza match card.
