NYC Faces Soggy Commute: What to Expect This Week

New York City is bracing for a week of unsettled weather, with the biggest impact expected during Thursday's morning commute. According to FOX 5 NY's Mike Woods, rain chances are significantly increasing, bringing the potential for scattered showers, thunderstorms, heavy downpours, and even localized flooding.

The NYC Emergency Management also reports that the most intense rainfall is anticipated between Thursday morning and evening. Officials caution that these downpours may lead to flooding on roadways and in areas with poor drainage.

Tropical Activity Looms in the Atlantic

Meanwhile, the tropics remain active. While Hurricane Gabrielle isn't currently a direct threat to the United States, areas of "disturbed weather" are being monitored in the Atlantic. These systems could develop and potentially impact the mainland U.S. at a later point, according to FOX Weather.
