Shia LaBeouf Admits to Steroid Use: Shocking Weight Gain for Movie Role!
Shia LaBeouf Reveals Steroid Use for Film Transformation
Shia LaBeouf has recently confessed to using performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) and steroids to gain a significant amount of weight for a movie role. This revelation adds LaBeouf to the growing list of actors who have openly discussed the pressures of body transformations in Hollywood. The admission came during the premiere of "Salvable," a boxing crime drama where LaBeouf plays a physically imposing fighter.
LaBeouf explained that he felt compelled to bulk up to accurately portray the character. "It was like, 'well, how am I going to fit in this world? I'm so tiny,'" he said, noting the size of real fighters and bookies he encountered. Before taking on the role, LaBeouf weighed around 165 pounds (75 kilograms). To achieve the desired physique, he added approximately 55 pounds (25 kilograms) in a short period, pushing his weight close to 220 pounds (100 kilograms).
The Risks of SARMs
LaBeouf revealed that he used SARMs (selective androgen receptor modulators) to facilitate his weight gain. "I was on all kinds of weird steroids, called SARMs... Some weird new steroid they gave me so that I got big," he stated. While SARMs are not technically anabolic steroids, they mimic some of the muscle-building effects, carrying similar risks. These risks include testosterone suppression, reduced sperm count, hair loss, acne, mood changes, liver toxicity, and an increased risk of heart attack or stroke, along with potential long-term damage to hormonal and cardiovascular health.
The actor also admitted that his weight gain wasn't solely muscle. He had to drastically increase his food intake to put on mass. The rapid transformation took a toll on his health. "They told me I was about to die. I had a cardiologist tell me, 'You've got to stop,'" LaBeouf confessed.
Since then, LaBeouf has returned to his natural weight of 165 pounds by stopping SARMs and adjusting his diet. His openness about steroid use highlights the intense pressures actors face to meet physical expectations in Hollywood and the potential dangers of rapid body transformations.
