Baltimore Weather Rollercoaster: From Thunderstorms to Sunshine!

Baltimore residents have been experiencing a mixed bag of weather this week, with thunderstorms and rain dominating the forecast. However, the good news is that a shift is on the horizon! After a period of unsettled conditions, warmer and drier weather is expected to return to the region soon.

Earlier today, heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms moved through the Baltimore area, particularly affecting Carroll County and areas near Daniel and Eldersburg. While lightning activity was relatively low, brief periods of heavy rain and gusty winds were possible. The storms gradually moved eastward, potentially impacting the city until around 9:00 PM before heading towards the Eastern Shore.

Looking ahead, Friday promises a welcome change. Clearing skies are expected overnight, paving the way for drier weather. However, the lower Eastern Shore may experience lingering rain into Friday morning. The western part of the state could see a few showers by Friday afternoon, but overall, the outlook is positive.

Maryland Alert Day: Strong Storms Possible Thursday

Thursday is designated as an Alert Day due to the potential for strong storms across Maryland. An approaching storm system and cold front will bring widespread showers, and if the sun breaks through, a few strong thunderstorms are possible. Damaging winds are the primary concern. The Storm Prediction Center has placed most of Maryland under a marginal risk (Level 1) for severe weather, meaning isolated severe weather events cannot be ruled out. High temperatures will reach the upper 70s to low 80s.

Showers may linger into Thursday night as the front pushes east. By Friday morning, the front should be near or just beyond the Chesapeake Bay, bringing drier air and increasing sunshine by afternoon. Southern Maryland may still see a leftover shower or two. Highs stay near 80, with cooler 50s to near 60 west of I-81 by Friday night.

The weekend forecast suggests a mix of clouds and sun, with a chance of showers, particularly in southern Maryland. Stay tuned to NewsRpt.com for the latest updates on the Baltimore weather forecast!
