Peta Murgatroyd Hints at End to Baby Journey with Maks Chmerkovskiy

Dancing With the Stars pro Peta Murgatroyd is hinting that her family with husband and fellow DWTS dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy may be complete. After welcoming three sons in relatively quick succession, Murgatroyd, 38, expressed feeling content with their family routine, suggesting that expanding their brood might not be in the cards.
Balancing Motherhood and Career
Murgatroyd and Chmerkovskiy are parents to Shai, 8, Rio, nearly 2, and Milan, who is almost a year old. In a recent interview, Murgatroyd shared her thoughts on potentially having more children. While Chmerkovskiy has expressed a desire to have a daughter, Murgatroyd indicated that she feels her body and mind have been through a lot with the recent pregnancies.
"I think it's fair to say [I’m done], yeah,” Murgatroyd told Us Weekly. “I think my body, just doing the back-to-back with the two babies, it was a lot — not just physically, but mentally.” She emphasizes the desire to dedicate her energy fully to her children, expressing concern that adding another child would stretch her too thin. “I want to be able to give my all to my children and I feel like, right now, I'm struggling to do that with three,” she explained.
Fertility Journey and Future Plans
Murgatroyd has been open about her past struggles with infertility, including multiple miscarriages. After undergoing IVF treatments, she and Chmerkovskiy welcomed Rio in June 2023. The unexpected pregnancy with Milan, just four months later, further solidified their family. Now, Murgatroyd is considering a return to Dancing With the Stars for season 34. She shared, “Right now, I do feel like I have a bit of a weight lifted off my shoulders. So, I feel like I would be ready to go back.” She believes finding a balance between her family and her career makes her “a better mom.”
While Chmerkovskiy joked that Peta isn't planning any further pregnancies, the couple appears united in prioritizing their current family. Murgatroyd's openness about the challenges of motherhood and her commitment to her children resonate with many fans, adding another layer to her already successful career.
