A Brooklyn dad, George Gountas, recently scored a hilarious and delicious victory at a Pedro Pascal look-alike contest held in New York City's Lower East Side. The event, hosted by Son Del North Mexican restaurant, saw Gountas crowned as the spitting image of the beloved actor, best known for his roles in "The Mandalorian" and "Game of Thrones."

Father's Day Surprise: From Dad to Doppelganger

Gountas wasn't exactly seeking the spotlight. His wife, Jenny Gania, nudged him into entering the contest as a Father's Day treat. Apparently, the resemblance to Pascal had been a running joke for years, ever since "Game of Thrones" premiered. Gania joked that her social media-averse husband is about to become famous.

Competing against nearly 30 other hopefuls, Gountas, dubbed "Pedro #5," impressed the judges with his Pascal-esque charm. His prize? A cool $50 and a year's supply of burritos from Son Del North. Not a bad haul for looking like a Hollywood star!

Why a Pedro Pascal Contest in NYC?

The contest was Son Del North's playful response to a comment Pascal made about the lack of good Mexican food in New York City. Chef and co-owner Annisha Garcia decided to prove him wrong, inspired by the previous Timothée Chalamet lookalike contest. Garcia threw the contest together at the last minute. Despite the rainy weather, 26 lookalikes showed up and brought joy to the restaurant and neighborhood. According to co-owner Wim Shih, the idea was to bring a bit of sunshine to folks during difficult times.
