Mick Ralphs, the iconic guitarist and songwriter behind two legendary British rock bands, Bad Company and Mott the Hoople, has passed away at the age of 81. The news was confirmed by a spokesperson for Ralphs' family, leaving fans and fellow musicians in mourning.

Ralphs' distinctive guitar riffs and songwriting prowess were instrumental in shaping the sound of both bands. He penned or co-wrote some of their biggest hits, including Bad Company's "Can't Get Enough," "Ready for Love," and "Good Lovin' Gone Bad," as well as co-writing "Bad Company" and "Feel Like Makin' Love." For Mott the Hoople, he contributed to classics like "Rock and Roll Queen" and "One of the Boys."

Bad Company lead singer Paul Rodgers, who co-founded the band with Ralphs in 1973, shared a heartfelt statement: "Our Mick has passed, my heart just hit the ground. He has left us with exceptional songs and memories. He was my friend, my songwriting partner, an amazing and versatile guitarist who had the greatest sense of humour... I will see you in heaven."

In 2016, Ralphs suffered a stroke following a series of Bad Company shows in the UK and had been residing in a nursing home in recent years. Despite his health challenges, his legacy as a rock icon remained firmly intact. Bad Company was recently voted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and are scheduled for induction in November.

Rodgers emphasized Ralphs' unique musical talent: "I think he’s very versatile, and his sound is very versatile, and he locks into a song perfectly. If it’s ‘Can’t Get Enough’ or ‘Bad Company,’ or ‘Feel Like Makin’ Love’ or ‘Shooting Star,’ you can immediately recognize his playing and go, ‘That’s Mick Ralphs.’"

Mick Ralphs' contribution to rock music is undeniable, and his music will continue to inspire generations of musicians and fans to come. He will be deeply missed.
