Toddler Critically Injured After Yellowjacket Attack

A 2-year-old boy from Georgia, Beckham Reed, is currently in critical condition after being stung over 150 times by yellowjackets. The incident occurred while Beckham was playing on his family's property in an electric toy vehicle.

According to reports, Beckham accidentally disturbed a hidden yellowjacket nest, resulting in a massive swarm attacking him. His parents immediately rushed him to a nearby emergency room, where he received initial treatment for the stings and was discharged with morphine and Benadryl.

Rapid Deterioration Leads to Hospitalization

Unfortunately, Beckham's condition worsened rapidly within 24 hours. His skin began to turn yellow, prompting his parents to rush him to Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick. Doctors quickly recognized that Beckham was experiencing multi-organ failure, affecting his heart, liver, and kidneys.

He was then transferred to the Pediatric ICU at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, where he is currently undergoing dialysis, ventilator support, and life-saving IV treatments to help his body combat the venom.

Family Seeks Support

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support Beckham's family during this challenging time. The campaign has already raised over $75,000 to help cover medical expenses and other related costs. The family is asking for continued prayers and donations as Beckham fights for his life.

Yellowjacket stings can be extremely dangerous, especially for young children. While there is no specific antivenom, doctors are providing supportive care to help Beckham's body eliminate the toxins. The family remains hopeful for his recovery.
