Lakers Steal Victory from Spurs in California Classic!
The Los Angeles Lakers pulled off a thrilling 89-88 victory against the San Antonio Spurs in the 2025 California Classic Summer League, thanks to explosive performances from Darius Bazley and Dalton Knecht. The Lakers erased a 14-point third-quarter deficit with a stunning 20-5 run to close out the game.
Darius Bazley led all scorers with 27 points, including a game-sealing dunk, and also grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds. Dalton Knecht contributed a crucial 25 points, showcasing his shooting prowess after a slow start to the tournament.
"Our defense, just turning up the intensity, turning up our physicality. Ultimately it was just our mindset, you just want to finish through," Bazley said, attributing the Lakers' comeback to their defensive efforts.
Knecht Finds His Rhythm
Dalton Knecht, after struggling in the first two games, finally found his shooting touch, hitting key three-pointers in the second half. "I finally found my rhythm. Took a while, took a couple games but I just stayed the course," Knecht explained. "All my teammates believed in me to go out and hit those shots. When I saw one fall I kept shooting and my teammates kept finding me."

For the Spurs, David Jones Garcia led the way with 25 points, but it wasn't enough to hold off the Lakers' late surge.
Both teams will now head to Las Vegas for further Summer League action. The Lakers will face the Mavericks, while the Spurs will take on the 76ers.
