Celebrity Golf Showdown! Darnold, Eisen & Hill Tee Off!
STATELINE, Nev. – The American Century Championship (ACC) is heating up at Edgewood Tahoe! Day 2 saw even more celebrities and fans flocking to the greens for practice rounds and the Celeb-Am competition. The excitement is palpable as the tournament draws near.
Newcomers Take a Swing
Thursday's practice rounds featured some fresh faces, including Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold, San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle, NFL GameDay Morning host Rich Eisen, and NBA Hall of Famer Grant Hill. They joined Cathy Engelbert, Justin Gaethje, Tim Simons, and Justin Reid, all eager to experience their first American Century Championship.
Darnold, one of the active athletes making his debut, admitted his practice was a bit “up and down.” However, he emphasized the importance of enjoying the game. “My game is up and down, but the only thing that matters is having fun,” Darnold said with a smile.
Eisen, known for his high spirits, kept the energy up despite a few errant shots. Joking about a wayward ball, he quipped, “Everyone remember, that’s what I look like before I hit it 300 down the middle,” before comically whiffing his next shot.
Hill, the NBA legend, was seen fueling up between holes, reminding himself to stay hydrated and nourished throughout the day.
"Pitch, Chip, and Putt" Competition
A new addition to the tournament this year was the “Pitch, Chip, and Putt” competition, pitting a women’s team against a men’s team. The “Girls on the Green” team, comprised of Annika Sorenstam, Cathy Engelbert, and Dylan Dreyer, triumphed over the men’s team, which included Alex Caruso, Zach LaVine, and Derek Carr.
Past Winners and Contenders
A press conference was held featuring past ACC winners and this year’s top contenders, including Mardy Fish, Annika Sorenstam, John Smoltz, Vinny Del Negro, and Tony Romo. The athletes discussed their past performances and their hopes for taking home the championship this year.
With the tournament officially underway, all eyes are on Edgewood Tahoe to see which celebrity will emerge victorious!
