Severe weather swept through Charlotte and Cincinnati this weekend, impacting major sporting events. Saturday's Charlotte FC vs. New York City FC match experienced a weather delay at Bank of America Stadium. The game, originally scheduled for 7:30 pm ET, was postponed due to inclement weather. Updates were communicated to fans as they became available, with play eventually resuming at 8:58 pm ET after a period of uncertainty.

Meanwhile, in Cincinnati, the FC Cincinnati vs. Columbus Crew game at TQL Stadium also faced weather-related disruptions. A 56-minute weather delay preceded the kickoff. Despite the delay, FC Cincinnati started strong, scoring two goals within the first five minutes – the fastest they've ever scored multiple goals. Pavel Bucha scored just 39 seconds into the game, followed by Evander in the 5th minute. Bucha's goal was the fourth-fastest in FC Cincinnati's MLS history, and Evander extended his goal streak to four matches, tying a club record.

However, the Columbus Crew rallied, scoring twice in the final five minutes of the first half and taking the lead with an own goal in the 59th minute. They added another goal in stoppage time, ultimately defeating FC Cincinnati 4-2, snapping their four-match win streak. The Orange and Blue now stand at 13-6-3 (42 points), while the Crew improved to 11-3-8 (41 points).

Cincinnati officials urged anyone near TQL Stadium to seek shelter and monitor weather information due to the potential for heavy rain and lightning. Showers started around noon and became more scattered across the Tri-State area, with a "Marginal Risk" for severe weather. While most storms remained below severe limits, some threatened to strengthen. Looking ahead, storms are expected to return by midday Sunday and persist into the afternoon.

FC Cincinnati is scheduled to host Inter Miami CF on Wednesday, July 16, at TQL Stadium. Fans are encouraged to wear blue, and limited tickets are still available.
