Marla Maples Sounds Alarm: Is Weather Modification Endangering Us?

Amid growing concerns over extreme weather events and potential environmental manipulation, Marla Maples, co-founder of the Global Wellness Forum (GWF) and a prominent advocate for environmental awareness, is urging for greater scrutiny and a ban on weather geoengineering practices. Maples's concerns come in the wake of catastrophic flooding in Texas, which has prompted investigations by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and members of Congress.
Maples, a MAHA backer based in Palm Beach, has been a vocal advocate for raising awareness about the potential dangers of weather modification, which she describes as "the human attempt to control the skies – to alter natural weather patterns through aerosol sprays of various particulate matter such as aluminum, strontium, barium and other particulate matters." She also points to cloud seeding, which utilizes silver iodide to enhance precipitation, and frequency-based technologies as methods of concern.
"Just think, when such practices are done without public knowledge or consent, we must ask: Who decides what happens in our shared atmosphere?" Maples stated in an interview with Fox News Digital, emphasizing the need for transparency and public discourse on these issues.
Maples's advocacy extends beyond mere awareness. She played a crucial role in the passage of Florida Senate Bill 56, which prohibits the release of chemical compounds intended to affect temperature, weather, climate, or sunlight intensity. This landmark legislation made Florida the first state to criminalize geoengineering and weather modification, with Governor Ron DeSantis signing the bill into law on July 1, 2025. At least 24 other states have introduced similar legislation, indicating a growing national movement towards regulating weather modification practices.
The debate surrounding weather modification is complex, with proponents arguing for its potential benefits in addressing drought and other climate-related challenges. However, critics like Maples raise serious concerns about the potential unintended consequences of these technologies, including environmental damage, health risks, and ethical considerations related to informed consent.
