Destiny 2: Desert Perpetual Raid - World First Race, Disabled Gear & More!
Guardians, the Desert Perpetual Raid is here! The race for World First is on in Destiny 2's latest expansion, The Edge of Fate. Here's everything you need to know about the raid, contest mode, and what gear you *can't* use.
The Desert Perpetual Raid: Key Details
The Desert Perpetual raid launched on July 19, 2025, at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM GMT / 7 PM CEST. Contest Mode was active for the first 48 hours, offering a significant challenge for those vying for the World First title.
World First Race Update
The competition was fierce! Team Nut, featuring Snazzzy, Ham, and others, emerged victorious, claiming the coveted World First title. Bungie has officially confirmed their win. Congratulations to Team Nut!
Early reports indicated a few humorous moments during the race, including one player calling their Mom to share the exciting news of their victory.
Disabled Gear During Contest Mode
Bungie disabled certain items during Contest Mode to maintain balance and prevent exploits. Here's a list of the disabled gear:
- Exotic Armor Perk: Spirit of the Liar (disabled across Destiny 2)
- Weapons: Outbreak Perfected, Third Iteration, Choir of One, Icebreaker, Barrow Dyad, Hierarchy of Needs, Grand Overture
- Armor Mod: Distribution
- Seasonal weapon mods and Temporal Tracker mod
The reasons for these bans vary, from the new exotic scout Third Iteration dealing excessive damage with anti-barrier rounds to Choir of One having unexpectedly large reserves. Bungie also disabled bounty and weapon leveling progression within the raid to reduce server strain.
Emblems and Rewards
Guardians can earn several emblems by participating in the Desert Perpetual raid:
- Third Unknown Raid Emblem: Complete the Desert Perpetual on any difficulty.
- Power Hues Emblem: Watch any Destiny 2 stream on Twitch on July 19 from 6 AM to 6 PM PT.
- Golden Relief Emblem: Gift a Twitch subscription in the Destiny 2 category streaming the raid from 6PM PT on July 19 until 10 AM PT on July 29.
- Timeline's Blade Raid Emblem: Complete all encounters in The Desert Perpetual within the first 48 hours (Contest Mode).
