Bayron Matos is a unique member of the Dolphins roster, hailing from the Dominican Republic. As part of the NFL's International Player Pathway Program (IPPP), he does not count towards the team's roster limit. He signed with the Dolphins in 2024.
From Basketball Court to the Gridiron
Before joining the Dolphins, the 6-foot-7, 334-pound Matos had a diverse athletic background. He initially moved to the United States to pursue basketball, playing at the collegiate level for both the New Mexico Lobos and the South Florida Bulls from 2019 to 2022. In 2022, he transitioned to football, initially playing on defense before switching to the offensive line.
