Hayley Williams Debuts New Song! You Won't Believe Where!
Hayley Williams, the powerhouse vocalist of Paramore, surprised fans at the Newport Folk Festival by debuting her new song, "Mirtazapine," live for the very first time. The performance was part of Jack Antonoff and Bleachers' set, billed as "The Ally Coalition Talent Show," which featured a star-studded lineup of guests.
A Newport Folk Festival Surprise
While some fans may have anticipated Williams' appearance, witnessing the live debut of "Mirtazapine" was a special moment. The song, previously only available on Nashville Public Radio, showcases a '90s-inspired sound. Williams also joined Bleachers for a rendition of Modern English’s new wave classic “I Melt With You,” contributing to the Festival’s collaborative spirit.
The set was a mix of covers and original material. Jeff Tweedy of Wilco joined Bleachers for a performance of Lana Del Rey's "Margaret" (a song featuring Bleachers) and Wilco's "Kamera." Other notable guests included Waxahatchee, Rufus Wainwright, Weyes Blood, and Dan Reeder, each contributing to the unique superjam atmosphere.
More Than Just a Performance
Williams wasn't just there to perform; she was seen enjoying the festival, watching sets from Geese’s Cameron Winter and Yeah Yeah Yeah’s. This marked her first time at the Fort, adding to the excitement surrounding her appearance.
Antonoff's "Ally Coalition Talent Show" brought a unique energy to the Newport Folk Festival, blending Bleachers' signature sound with a diverse range of guest performances and unexpected collaborations. The appearance of Maren Morris also added to the excitement with a performance of Bleachers’ “Don’t Go Dark.” The festival continues to be a venue for musical surprises and unforgettable moments.
