NYC Socialist's Lavish Uganda Wedding: Masked Guards & Phone Jamming!
New York City's socialist mayoral nominee, Zohran Mamdani, recently celebrated his marriage with a lavish, three-day event at his family's secluded compound in Uganda. The celebration, attended by invited guests only, featured some unusual security measures, raising eyebrows and sparking debate.
A Wedding Fit for… a Socialist?
The wedding bash took place in the wealthy Buziga Hill area outside Kampala, Uganda's capital. According to reports, the compound was heavily guarded by masked, military-style security personnel. Sources also indicated the presence of a cellphone jamming system, adding to the air of exclusivity and security.
Mamdani, who eloped with artist and animator Rama Duwaji earlier this year, reportedly told his social media followers he was heading to his homeland to celebrate with family and friends. The Mamdani family owns the Buziga Hill property, located in a neighborhood known for its million-dollar homes.
Security Measures Raise Questions
The tight security at the wedding, including the masked guards and phone jamming system, has drawn considerable attention. One witness told the New York Post that over 20 special forces command unit guards were present, and a phone-jamming system was in place. Some sources reported that one gate had around nine guards stationed at it.
The wedding celebration coincided with a period of mourning in Uganda, following the death of former Supreme Court Judge George Kanyeihamba, who lived near the Mamdani family.
Mamdani's Political Future
Mamdani's trip to Uganda comes amid a struggle to gain key Democratic endorsements. Some reports suggest that his campaign is attempting to shield him from scrutiny following his primary victory. He has faced questions about his political views, with some calling for him to denounce certain stances.
The wedding celebration included music, food, and dancing. Following the event, Mamdani’s personal security reportedly took over from the military guards.
