Ford is facing scrutiny once again, announcing two new recalls that bring their total for the year to a staggering 93. This news has drivers wondering if their vehicles are affected and what steps they should take.
2025 F-150 Hybrid Seatbelt Chime Issue
The first recall involves 56,473 units of the 2025 F-150 Hybrid. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the audible seatbelt warning chime may fail to activate when occupants aren't buckled upon starting the truck. This non-compliance with federal safety standards regarding crash protection could pose a significant risk to drivers and passengers.
The problem was discovered in May when an employee noticed the missing chime. Investigations revealed that a low charge in the 12-volt battery could trigger a reset condition within the Audio Head Unit, suppressing the necessary chimes. Ford plans to notify owners via mail starting in late August, with a second letter to follow when a solution is available. The fix involves updating the audio control module software to ensure chime functionality under all starting conditions.
Bronco Accessory Spare Tire Carrier Recall
The second recall affects a smaller number of vehicles, specifically 59 "Bronco Upfit kits" sold as accessory parts. These kits, sometimes offered through dealers and Ford Performance, included a 2-inch lift, extended fender flares, matte black accents, and an upgraded spare tire carrier, costing around $5,200.
The issue lies with the spare tire carrier's incompatibility with Broncos only equipped with a rearview camera. These carriers were intended solely for models with a 360-degree camera system. Reports indicate that dealers were not properly informed about this restriction, potentially leading to incorrect installations.
