Beat the Drought: Free Recycled Water for LA Residents!
Los Angeles residents can once again access free recycled water thanks to the LADWP's water pickup program. The Los Angeles-Glendale Water Reclamation Plant refill station is now open, offering a valuable resource for conserving water during ongoing drought conditions.
How does recycled water help? By using recycled water on your lawn or garden, you can significantly reduce your reliance on the city's potable water supply. Recycled water is treated and disinfected wastewater, making it a safe and sustainable alternative for irrigation.
Who is eligible? The program is available exclusively to LADWP customers. To participate, you'll need to bring a recent LADWP bill and a government-issued ID to the Los Angeles-Glendale facility. First-time participants will undergo a brief training session.
How much water can I get? After completing the training, you can collect up to 300 gallons of recycled water per visit. Remember to bring your own water-tight containers with lids for safe and easy transport. You can find container suggestions on the LADWP website.
When and where is the station open? The Los Angeles-Glendale refill station is currently the only location open and will remain so until December 31st, according to LADWP spokesperson Renee Vazquez. The station is open every Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
