Panic on the Platform: Fire Erupts Under NJ PATH Train
Commuters in New Jersey faced a terrifying start to their Monday morning as a fire broke out underneath a PATH train at Newport station. Passengers were forced to evacuate the smoke-filled cars, leading to scenes of chaos and panic as they scrambled to safety.
The incident occurred around 6:19 a.m. on August 4, 2025, according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ). The fire ignited beneath an eastbound train, quickly filling the carriages with thick smoke.

Alternative transportation options, including New Jersey Transit buses, New Jersey Transit Rail, and New York Waterway, were offered to assist those affected.
