He even made a visit to PNC Park on July 21st to throw a side session.

Filling a Crucial Role

Oviedo's return fills a critical role in the Pirates' pitching staff. He joins All-Star Paul Skenes, veteran Mitch Keller, rookie Mike Burrows, and left-hander Andrew Heaney in the starting rotation. His presence allows the Pirates to move forward after trading Bailey Falter to the Kansas City Royals.
