The Cleveland Browns are bolstering their quarterback depth after a series of injuries left the team scrambling. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Browns are signing quarterback Tyler 'Snoop' Huntley to their roster. This move comes as Kenny Pickett and rookie Dillon Gabriel are dealing with hamstring injuries, and rookie Shedeur Sanders is nursing a sore shoulder, leaving the Browns thin at the quarterback position.

“Sources: Browns are signing QB Tyler ‘Snoop’ Huntley, who spent part of last season with Cleveland,” Schefter announced via X. “With Kenny Pickett and Dillon Gabriel nursing hamstring injuries, and Shedeur Sanders having a sore shoulder, the Browns need another arm. Enter Huntley.”

Huntley, 27, originally went undrafted out of Utah in 2020 before joining the Baltimore Ravens. He spent time on and off their practice squad before eventually making his debut as a replacement for Lamar Jackson. After stints with the Ravens, including being re-signed as a restricted free agent in April 2023, Huntley initially joined the Browns as a free agent in 2024. However, he was released coming out of the preseason and subsequently rejoined the Ravens' practice squad.

The Browns' quarterback situation became critical with Pickett, Gabriel, and Sanders all experiencing injuries, leaving Joe Flacco as the only healthy quarterback on the active roster. The addition of Huntley provides much-needed insurance and competition in the quarterback room. This move highlights the unpredictable nature of the NFL and the importance of having depth at every position, especially quarterback.

In his previous NFL action, Huntley has demonstrated his capabilities as a dual-threat quarterback. In 2024, while with the Dolphins, he appeared in five games, completing 64.7 percent of his passes for 829 yards, with three touchdowns and three interceptions. He also contributed on the ground, rushing 26 times for 135 yards and two touchdowns.

What This Means for the Browns

The signing of Tyler Huntley provides the Browns with a reliable backup option and a quarterback with starting experience. While the team hopes for a speedy recovery for Pickett, Gabriel, and Sanders, Huntley's presence offers a sense of security and allows the injured quarterbacks to fully recover without rushing back onto the field.

Looking Ahead

As the NFL season progresses, the Browns will be closely monitoring the health of their quarterbacks. The addition of Tyler Huntley is a strategic move that addresses the team's immediate needs and provides valuable depth at a crucial position.
