Ravens Offense: Lamar Jackson's Take After Intense Colts Practice!
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is optimistic about the offense's progress after a joint practice session with the Indianapolis Colts. The practice, held on Tuesday, gave Jackson a valuable opportunity to lead the first-team offense against a different defense. Jackson connected with tight ends Mark Andrews for two touchdowns in the red zone and completed several passes to Charlie Kolar. However, Jackson also threw an interception late in the session, as did backup quarterback Cooper Rush.
Despite the interception, Jackson remains upbeat. "It was great work against a good defense," Jackson said. "I think overall it was a good day. We get great work out of these type of practices. There's always room for improvement. [In] camp, we have good days, we have bad days, we have OK days, we have great days. We're right where we need to be right now."
Head Coach John Harbaugh emphasized the importance of the practice, stating that the starters gained significant reps against quality opponents. The Ravens are not planning to play their starters during Thursday night's preseason game against the Colts, making these joint practices crucial for preparation before Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills.
Meanwhile, Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson also had a strong showing, completing 10 of 13 passes in 11-on-11 drills. Richardson connected with Alec Pierce for a significant gain and threw a touchdown pass to Ashton Dulin. This performance marks a significant improvement from last year's joint practice in Cincinnati, where Richardson struggled. Wide receiver AD Mitchell was a standout performer for the Colts, reportedly giving the Ravens defense a tough time.
With Isaiah Likely sidelined, Charlie Kolar is seizing the opportunity to gain more reps with Jackson. "Charlie is getting a great feel for the game," Jackson said. "He's looking like a little Mark and a little Isaiah out there, in his own way. He's coming along great."
