Jason Bateman's 'Black Rabbit' Premieres at Toronto Film Fest!
The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) is celebrating its Primetime program's 10th anniversary with a stellar lineup of new and returning series. Among the highly anticipated world premieres is 'Black Rabbit,' a limited series starring Jude Law and Jason Bateman. Bateman also directs some of the episodes.
'Black Rabbit': A Netflix Thriller
Created by Zach Baylin and Kate Susman, 'Black Rabbit' centers on reunited brothers and the opening of a new hotspot restaurant and lounge in New York City. The series, a Netflix original, is set to launch on September 18th. This adds to the increasing trend of film actors and directors finding creative opportunities in television.
Other Premieres at TIFF Primetime
Alongside 'Black Rabbit,' TIFF's Primetime program will also feature world premieres of Sterlin Harjo's 'The Lowdown,' starring Ethan Hawke as a gritty citizen journalist, and Mae Martin's 'Wayward,' a Canadian series co-starring Sarah Gadon and Toni Collette. The program will also showcase docuseries like 'Origin: The Story of the Basketball Africa League.'
A Focus on Episodic Storytelling
TIFF's Primetime program highlights the increasing crossover between film and television, showcasing the creative freedom offered by longer story arcs and deeper character exploration in episodic formats. Geoff Macnaughton, Primetime's lead programmer, is excited about the diverse and high-quality series selected for this year’s showcase. Primetime screenings will also include extended Q&A sessions with the creators and cast.
