McDonald's Turns Back Time: Adult Happy Meal Returns!
Get ready for a dose of nostalgia! McDonald's is launching a new adult Happy Meal, bringing back beloved McDonaldland characters and a limited-edition shake. This blast from the past is set to launch on August 12, 2025, and promises to be a hit with those who grew up with Ronald McDonald and his pals.
The McDonaldland Meal features Ronald McDonald, Birdie, the Hamburglar, Mayor McCheese, the Fry Friends, and Grimace, whose birthday meal went viral in 2023. It's a reunion of iconic characters designed to evoke fond memories and introduce a new generation to the magic of McDonaldland.
What's in the Box?
The adult Happy Meal comes with a choice of a Quarter Pounder with Cheese or a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, along with fries and the all-new Mt. McDonaldland Shake. The shake's flavor remains a mystery, but McDonald's describes it as "inspired by the vibrant blue ‘lava’ and pink clouds of Mt. McDonaldland," the volcano in their fictional world. Sounds delicious and visually stunning!

More Than Just a Meal
Each McDonaldland Meal will also include one of six collectible tins featuring postcards, stickers, and other goodies inspired by the characters. It's a perfect way to commemorate this nostalgic trip down memory lane. But the fun doesn't stop there! McDonald's is also releasing limited-edition merchandise in collaboration with PacSun on August 12 and with Away on August 18, so you can wear your McDonaldland pride.
Why Now?
This new launch is part of McDonald's ongoing strategy to boost sales and re-engage customers. Following the return of the SnackWrap and the special Minecraft meal, the McDonaldland Meal is the latest effort to tap into consumer nostalgia and create a buzz around the brand. According to Jennifer “JJ” Healan, McDonald’s VP, U.S. Marketing, Brand, Content & Culture, this is a chance to introduce a new generation to the magic of McDonaldland.
