Adam Scott Reveals 'Severance' Secrets: 'Exhausting' White Hallways!
Adam Scott, known for his roles in 'Parks and Recreation' and the critically acclaimed 'Severance,' is opening up about the challenges of filming the Apple TV+ thriller. In a recent episode of Amy Poehler's podcast, 'Good Hang with Amy Poehler,' Scott discussed the show's demanding physical aspects, particularly the endless, identical white hallways of Lumon Industries.
"Too much running," Scott confessed to Poehler, adding that he "gets lost every day" on the set. "It's exhausting and confusing." Poehler, his former 'Parks and Recreation' co-star, chimed in, saying, "Because you're stuck in a f------ weird office, you're running in a white hallway. And you don't even know where you're going. I mean, every hallway looks the same."
The comments highlight the unique atmosphere of 'Severance,' where Scott plays Mark, a man who undergoes a procedure to separate his work and personal lives. The show's distinctive visual style, with its stark white offices and labyrinthine corridors, contributes to the sense of disorientation and unease that permeates the series. The physical demands of the role, as Scott reveals, further amplify this effect.
Beyond the running, 'Severance' has garnered significant critical acclaim, earning a staggering 27 Emmy nominations for its second season, including nods for Best Drama Series and Best Actor for Scott. This recognition follows the show's initial success in 2022, where it received 14 nominations. The show is considered a frontrunner for both categories.
Scott also reflected on his career trajectory, from struggling actor to Emmy-nominated performer. He and his wife, Naomi, run Gettin’ Rad Productions. He said he filmed Parks and Rec just a few steps from there.
