Caitlin Clark Injury: Is the WNBA Hiding Something?! Fans Worried!
Is Caitlin Clark's injury more serious than the WNBA and the Indiana Fever are letting on? That's the question swirling around the league as the star rookie continues to be sidelined with a groin injury. Clark, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft and a two-time All-Star, hasn't played since July 15th, leaving fans eager for her return.
Fever coach Stephanie White has provided updates, stating Clark is progressing but not yet ready for full practice. "No return to practice, she's been able to get a little bit more of her full-court running with all of her body weight," White said. "It's really building up from doing minimal to building some endurance to do longer periods of time. She's been able to do a little more on the court in terms of how she moves, but not into practice shape."
However, some, like sports media personality Skip Bayless, are questioning the official narrative. Bayless has suggested the injury could be significantly worse than reported, potentially even ruling Clark out for the remainder of the season. This speculation adds fuel to the fire of concern among fans who miss seeing Clark's electrifying performances.
Clark herself has admitted to struggling with the injury, stating on Sue Bird's podcast, "I've never been through anything like this, which is probably why it's been so hard. I've never really dealt with injury. It's probably been a challenge in itself because when I was first feeling pain, I didn't understand it."
The Fever have also been hit hard by other injuries, losing guards Sydney Colson and Aari McDonald to season-ending injuries. This has forced the team to sign Odyssey Sims and Kyra Lambert to short-term contracts to bolster their roster. As of August 16th, Clark has missed 20 of the Fever's 33 games. The team's record with Clark is 8-5, while they are 10-10 without her.
When Will Caitlin Clark Return?
Unfortunately, there's no definitive timetable for Clark's return. She will miss the Fever's game against the Washington Mystics. The team and the league are undoubtedly eager to have her back on the court, but her health remains the top priority. Fans will have to continue to wait and see when the star rookie will be able to make her comeback.
