The West Indies Women's cricket team are gearing up for their final One Day International (ODI) against England, with all-rounder Jannillea Glasgow urging her teammates to finish the tour on a high note. Despite England already securing the series, Glasgow believes the West Indies have the talent and spirit to cause an upset.

Glasgow Targets Strong Finish

Glasgow emphasised the importance of a fearless performance in the third ODI at the County Ground in Somerset. Even with injury setbacks, including the absence of captain Hayley Matthews, the team remains determined.

"It’s windy across the ground, but we had a good session. The wicket has pace, and it’s flat. I think most of us love the pace, so I think we will have a good start whether we bat or bowl first," Glasgow stated. "We have played five games already, so I don’t think it will matter to us if we bat or bowl first. We just have to come hard and end on a high note."

Fighting Spirit Despite Defeat

The West Indies' fighting spirit was evident in the second ODI, despite their loss. Glasgow played a remarkable innings, scoring 44 runs off just 24 balls, showcasing her aggressive approach.

"I was prepared from the night before. I was in my groove, dancing and all. I just give God thanks that I was able to execute," she said. She also praised Guyanese debutante Realeanna Grimmond, who contributed a solid 53 runs.

England's Perspective

Meanwhile, England's Sophie Ecclestone will be taking a break from domestic cricket to manage a minor quad injury and prioritise her well-being. However, she remains available for selection for the upcoming series against India.

England Women’s Head Coach Charlotte Edwards expressed full support for Ecclestone's decision, stating, "We’re totally behind that. We want to be able to select Sophie for the India series but the most important thing for her at the moment is that she feels in a better place."

In other news, Amy Jones and Tammy Beaumont achieved historic centuries, becoming the first pair of openers to score back-to-back ODI centuries, further solidifying England's dominance.
