The Springbok Women's rugby team is preparing for a crucial match against Italy, and head coach Swys de Bruin has made some strategic changes to the lineup. Utility back Nadine Roos, who impressed with South Africa's first try against Brazil, will move to fullback for Sunday's game in York. Unam Tose will take up the scrumhalf position.

De Bruin's decision reflects a tactical shift aimed at countering Italy's playing style. Byrhandré Dolf, who previously played fullback, will move to the right wing, replacing Maceala Samboya. Chumisa Qawe steps in at inside centre, with Aphiwe Ngwevu moving to the bench alongside Eloise Webb, who replaces Jakkie Cilliers.

The forward pack, which dominated against Brazil in their 66-6 victory, remains unchanged. This continuity aims to maintain the team's strength and cohesion upfront.

"We have looked at the way they play and decided on this squad for this important match," said De Bruin. He highlighted Italy's tendency to kick for territory, and the importance of Roos's counterattacking ability. "They don’t like to play too much rugby in their own half, often opting to kick for territory, and that is where Nadine’s ability on the counterattack will be crucial, and if you add the abilities of Byrhandré in open play, I think we will be effective in combating that."
