Kaizer Chiefs have officially commenced their pre-season training at the Kaizer Chiefs Village, marking the start of preparations under head coach Nasreddine Nabi. The squad's return signals the beginning of a crucial phase as they gear up for the upcoming 2025/26 season, which includes continental competitions.

Pre-Season Camp in Naturena

Before jetting off to the Netherlands for their European camp, the Amakhosi will initially convene at their base in Naturena. This initial camp, which started on Friday, 20 June, serves a dual purpose: to reacclimatise the players to the rigours of training and to provide Nabi with an opportunity to evaluate the squad's fitness and form.

Netherlands Training Camp and Friendly Against Utrecht FC

Chiefs are scheduled to depart for the Netherlands on 3 July and return on 19 July. During their time in Europe, they will engage in intensive pre-season training, including several friendly matches. One confirmed fixture is against Dutch powerhouse Utrecht FC on 11 July. "The most popular club in South Africa will be the opponent: Kaizer Chiefs. This match will also be played behind closed doors," Utrecht FC announced on their website.

Squad Assessment and Potential Transfers

Coach Nabi will utilize this pre-season period to identify his core lineup and establish starting positions. The futures of players like Edson Castillo, Bongani Sam, George Matlou, Tebogo Potsane, and Mduduzi Mdantsane remain uncertain, adding an element of competition and evaluation. Trialist Mhleli Mabuza has reportedly impressed during his assessment and may be in line for a contract.

Transfer Targets: Monyane, Mako, and Mbule

The Soweto giants are also aiming to finalize the transfers of former Orlando Pirates players Thabiso Monyane and Paseka Mako. Additionally, discussions have been held with Sipho Mbule in recent weeks, potentially bolstering the squad further.

New Faces at Naturena

A new player was spotted at Naturena as the team regrouped, signaling potential additions to the squad as Nabi shapes his team for the challenges ahead. The pre-season preparations are crucial as Kaizer Chiefs aim to make a significant impact in both domestic and continental competitions.
