Is Barcelona's reign in La Liga under threat? Despite recent signings like Marcus Rashford, Joan García, and Roony Bardghji, serious problems are brewing beneath the surface at the Catalan club. While they publicly project confidence, behind closed doors, Barcelona are desperately seeking solutions to meet La Liga's stringent financial fair play (FFP) rules.

Financial Fair Play Fears

Barcelona's accountants claim they've met La Liga's FFP requirements, but league officials remain skeptical. This echoes last year's struggles to register players. Remember the Nico Williams saga? The Spain winger backed out of a seemingly completed transfer due to concerns about registration guarantees, leading him to renew with Athletic Club.

Marcus Rashford, recently acquired on loan from Manchester United, insists he's focused on the present season and not a permanent move. However, Barcelona must first register him to play in La Liga, a challenge they haven't yet overcome with the season rapidly approaching.

Rashford's Focus on the Present

"I’m not thinking about next season [2026–27],” Rashford stated. “I want to do the best I can for the team while I’m here and then we’ll see.” He's already making an impact, scoring his first goal and assist in Barcelona colors.

Champions League Ambitions

Following a domestic treble in Hansi Flick's first season, Barcelona aims to conquer the Champions League. Rashford shares this ambition: “Hopefully we can go one step further than last year and try to win the Champions League as well.”
