Ghana Cedi: Ebi Worst Currency for Third Quarter 2025 - Bloomberg Report
Accra, September 4, 2025 - Bloomberg report dey show say Ghana Cedi be the world's worst-performing currency for the third quarter of 2025. This setback dey come just five months after Bloomberg name the Cedi as the world's best-performing currency for April, after e gain 16 percent against the US dollar since the year start.
That rally help ease inflation pressure, wey e push consumer inflation go down to 21.2 percent, the lowest in eight months at that time. But now, the currency, wey e rank first globally on top of strong gold prices, don weaken by 13 percent for the current quarter.
According to Bloomberg, their data dey show say this be the steepest fall worldwide, wey e dey erase part of the 50 percent gain wey e record between April and June.
Ghana economy dey depend on imports for plenty goods, from food to machinery, and demand dey rise towards the end of the year as businesses dey prepare for Christmas season. The higher demand for dollars don put pressure on the Cedi, while the Bank of Ghana ein limited supply of foreign exchange don add to the strain.

- Botswana Pula: -7.7 percent
