Mfantsipim School, popularly known as Botwe, has proven their academic prowess once again by crushing rivals Prempeh College and Adisadel College to secure a coveted spot in the semi-finals of the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ). The highly anticipated contest, which was rescheduled after a security breach, saw Mfantsipim dominating from start to finish.
The Botwe boys amassed an impressive 64 points, leaving their competitors in the dust. Both Adisadel College and Prempeh College finished with 40 points each, a significant 24 points behind the victors. The atmosphere at the University of Cape Coast's School of Graduate Studies (SGS) Auditorium was electric as the three science powerhouses battled it out.
A Dominant Performance Throughout the Rounds
Mfantsipim's victory was built on a consistent performance across all five rounds. They established an early lead in the Fundamentals Round, scoring 25 points compared to Prempeh's 20 and Adisadel's 15. The Speed Race saw them extend their lead, reaching 41 points while Prempeh trailed with 22 and Adisadel remained at 15.
Problem of the Day and True/False Rounds
The Problem of the Day round tested the contestants' ability to solve complex scientific problems. Mfantsipim secured four out of ten points, bringing their total to 45. Prempeh managed two, reaching 24, while Adisadel gained momentum with six points, reaching 21. The True or False round further solidified Mfantsipim's lead, reaching 61 points, followed by Prempeh with 40 and Adisadel with 31.
