Los Altos, Mountain View Win Big at CCS Cross Country Championships!

Los Altos and Mountain View schools dominated the Central Coast Section (CCS) cross country championships over the weekend, showcasing impressive performances from their athletes. Here's a breakdown of the highlights:

Los Altos Girls Dominate Division I

The Los Altos girls' cross country team clinched the Central Coast Section Division I Championship with a remarkable score of 52. They outpaced second-place Menlo-Atherton, who finished with 76. The team's success was fueled by three runners securing top-10 finishes. Samantha Witteles secured second place with a time of 18:05, followed closely by Eliana Witteles in third place with 18:07. Cali Barberi rounded out the top performers, finishing ninth with a time of 18:41. The Los Altos boys also had a strong showing, finishing fourth in the CCS Division I race, with Taran Davies leading the Eagles with a fifth-place finish.

Mountain View Boys Triumph in Division II

The Mountain View boys' team emerged victorious in the CCS Division II championship race, thanks to an outstanding performance by their top five runners, all of whom finished within the top 10. Ryan Chen led the charge, securing second place with a time of 15:08. Deven Koppala followed in fourth place (15:14), Dean Caringella in seventh (15:30), Liam Tassa in eighth (15:31), and IIan Gerber in 10th (15:42). The Mountain View girls also delivered a strong performance, finishing as runners-up in the CCS Division II race with a score of 74. Ada Bielinska and Cassidy Misuraca finished 10th and 11th, respectively.

St. Francis Girls Conquer Division II

The St. Francis girls' team secured the CCS Division II race title with a score of 45. Payton Wagner finished fifth, Brinley Pickett seventh, Lily Symon eighth, and Lauren Draper ninth. The St. Francis boys finished fourth in the Division II race. Tyler Huo led the Lancers with an 11th-place finish during the meet.

Other Sporting Highlights

In other sports news, the Los Altos girls' tennis team secured a 4-3 victory against Menlo School in the semifinals. They are now set to face Los Gatos in the final. However, the St. Francis field hockey team suffered a 3-0 defeat against Los Gatos in the CCS Division I championship final.
