Iranian Actor Mehrdad Falatgar Dies After Battle with Cancer
Iranian actor and director Mehrdad Falatgar has passed away at the age of 60 after a battle with cancer. He died in a Tehran hospital due to heart failure on September 2nd. His body will be buried in his hometown of Babol on September 3rd.
Born on October 8, 1959, in Babol, Falatgar graduated with a degree in acting from Azad University. He began his career in theater, working with renowned figures like Gholamhossein Saedi and Bahram Beyzai. He transitioned to film in 1987 with 'Shadows'.
Falatgar gained recognition for his roles in television series such as 'Black Flowers' (1992) directed by Samuel Khachikian, and 'Men of Angelos' (1996), which was praised by Farajullah Salahshur. Salahshur later introduced him to Ebrahim Hatamikia for the film 'The Glass Agency,' though the role ultimately went to Reza Kianian.
His film credits include 'Under the Skin of the City,' 'The Glass Agency,' 'To Be or Not to Be,' and 'Dirty Work.' He also appeared in television series like 'Men of Angelos,' 'Baby Engineer,' 'Maybe It Will Happen to You,' and 'Underground.'
Falatgar's career spanned both acting and directing, showcasing his versatility and dedication to the Iranian film and television industry. He will be remembered for his contributions to Iranian art and culture.
