Boston Law Firms Clash: Trade Secrets Stolen?! Find Out Who's Suing Who!
Boston Legal Battle: Sokolove Law vs. Jason Stone Injury Lawyers
The Boston legal scene is heating up as two prominent personal injury law firms, Sokolove Law and Jason Stone Injury Lawyers (JSIL), are locked in a bitter lawsuit. Sokolove Law, a firm established in 1979 by Jim Sokolove, is accusing Keith Glover, a former employee now working as Chief Operating Officer at JSIL, of stealing valuable trade secrets. The lawsuit, filed on August 13th, alleges a "wholesale theft of a business model."
According to the complaint, Glover, who allegedly rose "from a mattress salesman into a six-figure legal operations professional" during his time at Sokolove, copied the firm's "digital operations playbook" before joining JSIL. Sokolove Law claims that this stolen information is directly responsible for their success and JSIL's recent rapid expansion. The lawsuit states that JSIL has nearly tripled in size since Glover allegedly handed over the stolen materials.
The core of the stolen secrets lies in an internal website used by case managers. Sokolove Law alleges that Glover made a complete copy of this website, along with various documents detailing the firm's internal procedures. The firm claims an employee discovered in April that the copied website was still active, but not within Sokolove Law's network.
Evidence of Unauthorized Access
Sokolove Law further alleges that JSIL's use of these trade secrets created a "digital signal" that alerted Sokolove Law's servers. This signal revealed over 53,000 instances of unauthorized access to the information within the past two years. An investigation allegedly revealed that JSIL employees across all offices were accessing the copied website daily.
Counter-Suit: Bait and Switch Accusations
Adding another layer to the drama, a counter-suit has been launched. Law360 reports that the firm facing claims of stealing marketing plans is now accusing their rival of using an illegal "bait and switch" business model and making false statements. This complex legal battle promises to be a long and closely watched affair within the Boston legal community.
