Ford Issues Massive Truck Recall!

Ford is recalling over 355,000 pickup trucks in the U.S. due to a critical instrument panel display (IPC) failure. This malfunction can prevent drivers from seeing essential information like speed, fuel levels, and warning lights, significantly increasing the risk of accidents.

Which Ford Trucks Are Affected?

The recall impacts specific 2025 Ford F-150 models and other 'Super Duty' trucks, including the 2025-2026 F-550 SD, F-450 SD, F-350 SD, and F-250 SD. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the IPC may fail upon startup, leaving drivers with a blank screen.

"This condition can prevent safety-related telltales and gauges from being readable, increasing the risk of a crash as critical safety information may not be displayed," Ford stated.

The Danger of a Blank Dashboard

Imagine starting your truck and seeing nothing on your dashboard. No speedometer, no fuel gauge, no warning lights. This is the reality for drivers of affected Ford trucks. The inability to monitor critical vehicle functions poses a serious safety hazard.

Ford's Solution: A Free Software Update

Fortunately, Ford is offering a free software update to correct the IPC issue. This update can be performed at authorized Ford dealerships or through an over-the-air (OTA) update.

Ford emphasizes that the OTA update is a more convenient option for customers, eliminating the need for a dealer visit. Owner notification letters will be sent out soon with detailed instructions on how to obtain the remedy.

What To Do If You Own an Affected Ford Truck

  • Check if your truck model and year are included in the recall.
  • Watch for the owner notification letter from Ford.
  • Schedule a service appointment at your local Ford dealership or prepare for the over-the-air update.
  • Prioritize safety and be aware of the potential for a blank dashboard display.

While Ford reports being unaware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue, they have received 95 warranty claims. It is crucial to address this recall promptly to ensure your safety and the safety of others on the road.
