Titans SHAKE-UP! Callahan OUT as Play-Caller, Hardegree IN! WTF?
Nashville is buzzing! After a disastrous 0-3 start to the 2025 NFL season, Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan has made a dramatic decision: he's relinquishing play-calling duties to quarterbacks coach Bo Hardegree, effective immediately. The announcement, made early Tuesday at Ascension Saint Thomas Sports Park, has sent shockwaves through the Titans fanbase and the league alike.
Why the Change?
The Titans' offensive struggles under Callahan have been well-documented. The team currently ranks near the bottom of the NFL in scoring (28th), total yards (31st), and yards per play. These woes follow a disappointing 3-17 record over Callahan's first 20 games, where the team ranked 28th in points scored and dead last in total yards. The booing from fans at Nissan Stadium during their recent 41-20 loss to the Colts clearly signaled a breaking point.
Who is Bo Hardegree?
Hardegree, 41, is no stranger to calling plays. He served as the Las Vegas Raiders' interim offensive coordinator for the final nine games of the 2023 season. During that time, rookie quarterback Aidan O'Connell thrived under Hardegree's leadership, ranking second among all rookie QBs in passing yards and touchdown passes. The Raiders offense showed marked improvement in several key categories with Hardegree at the helm.
This is Hardegree's second season with the Titans, having been hired by Callahan in 2024. Last season, he contributed to the development of quarterback Will Levis. Now, he’ll be tasked with revitalizing a struggling Titans offense featuring quarterbacks Cam Ward, Brandon Allen and Trevor Siemian. Nick Holz remains as offensive coordinator, working alongside Callahan and Hardegree.
Can Hardegree Turn Things Around?
The pressure is on Hardegree to inject life into the Titans' offense and salvage the season. While the move is a gamble, it signals a willingness from Callahan to address the team's shortcomings. The Titans faithful are hoping that Hardegree's experience and fresh perspective can spark a much-needed turnaround.
The NFL world will be watching closely to see if this change can reignite the Titans' offense and get them back on the winning track. Will Hardegree be the spark the Titans desperately need? Only time will tell.
