Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders is currently at his Texas estate, dealing with an unspecified health issue, raising questions about his return to the Boulder campus. While CU's summer football camps have commenced, Sanders' absence has sparked concern among fans and observers.

Uncertainty Surrounds Sanders' Return

Despite appearing at the CU summer camps in both 2023 and 2024, Sanders' presence this year remains uncertain. His employment contract with CU explicitly lists operating the camps as one of his official duties, and his image is prominently used in the university's advertising.

On a recent YouTube livestream, Deion Sanders Jr., his eldest son, shared that his father is "feeling well" but offered no specific timeline for their return to Boulder. "He’ll tell y’all soon enough what he going through, what he went through," Deion Jr. stated, leaving the exact nature of Sanders' health issue undisclosed.

Family's Support in Texas

Deion Jr. indicated that their return to Boulder is contingent on his father's departure from Texas. "When we get back in Boulder, I don’t know," he said. "I’m waiting until my dad leaves. When he leaves, then I’ll go. Until then, I’m gonna sit here with him."

Missed Engagements and Health History

Adding to the speculation, Sanders, 57, canceled a scheduled speaking engagement in Florida due to an "unavoidable last-minute scheduling change." He was replaced by NBA legend Magic Johnson at the Foundation for Sickle Cell Research symposium.

In 2023, Sanders faced health challenges related to blood clots in his legs, causing him to miss a Pac-12 Conference media event. CU athletic trainer Lauren Askevold, who has been assisting him since 2021, is accompanying him in Texas. These issues led to the amputation of two of his toes and further medical procedures.

The sports world awaits updates on Deion Sanders' health and his anticipated return to the Colorado Buffaloes football program.
