Yankees vs. Royals: Series Preview and Key Matchups
Yankees Face Royals in Anticipated Series at Kauffman Stadium
The New York Yankees are facing off against the Kansas City Royals in a highly anticipated series at Kauffman Stadium. After a series opener highlighted by Aaron Judge's massive 469-foot home run and some friction between Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Royals fans, the focus shifts to the upcoming games.
In Wednesday night's game, the AL East-leading Yankees (40-25) are set to pitch Clarke Schmidt (2-3, 4.04 ERA) against the Royals' Kris Bubic (5-3, 1.43 ERA). Bubic and the Royals (34-33) will try and contain the Yankees potent offense, particularly Aaron Judge.
Stanton and Stroman Rehab Assignments
Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton (elbow tendinitis) is expected to make his second minor league rehab start at DH for Class AA Somerset. Starter Marcus Stroman (left knee inflammation) is also scheduled to begin his rehab assignment at Somerset.

Can the Royals Contain Aaron Judge?
One of the biggest storylines entering the series is whether the Royals' pitchers can contain the Yankees' star, Aaron Judge. Judge has been on a tear this season, and the Royals will need to be sharp to keep him from dominating at the plate. The Yankees have a potent offense, leading the league in home runs and walk rate. Their road wRC+ of 130 is also the best in baseball, meaning they perform well even outside of their home ballpark.
The Yankees had a strong May but are coming off a disappointing homestand. However, their road record (18-13) is the best in baseball, and they boast a strong record (24-16) against teams with a .500 record or better.
The Royals will be looking to win a home series against the Yankees for only the second time since 2015. This series promises to be a great test for both teams.
