The road to WrestleMania 41 is always paved with surprises and what-ifs. While Joe Hendry ultimately faced Randy Orton at WWE's grandest stage, a former AEW star has revealed he was initially considered for the coveted spot: Aleister Black.

Speaking to Le10Sport's Bernard Colas, Black, now back in WWE on SmackDown, disclosed that a potential clash with 'The Viper' was discussed. "From what I’m told, there was a discussion about it. But for obvious reasons, it didn’t go any further because they had another plan," Black explained. "But the option was considered... The fact that they discussed it at all is pretty cool."

He enthusiastically added, "Any time I get a chance to wrestle Randy, it’s a good time, because Randy, he’s… he’s Randy Orton, you know! He’s Randy Orton. At WrestleMania. How could I say no?"

Kevin Owens' neck injury played a role, sidelining him and potentially opening the door for other contenders. While Black didn't get his WrestleMania moment against Orton, the two did recently share the ring in a King of the Ring fatal four-way qualifier on SmackDown, a match Orton ultimately won.

Black's return to WWE after parting ways with AEW last year initially generated buzz. However, some critics, including wrestling veterans, feel his current SmackDown run lacks direction. Despite early victories, he hasn't been involved in significant rivalries or title feuds, leading to concerns about his momentum.

What's Next for Aleister Black?

The revelation of the WrestleMania 41 consideration adds an intriguing layer to Black's WWE storyline. Will WWE revisit the potential Black vs. Orton rivalry in the future? Could this near-miss motivate a renewed push for Black on SmackDown? Only time will tell.
